New deal to add 500MW of solar into Spanish grid

Clean energy companies Canadian Solar and Solarcentury have signed a deal for the development of two grid-connected solar systems in Spain. Canadian Solar will provide Solarcentury with 500MW modules to develop 200MW Cabrera and 300MW Talayuela solar systems. The 200MW solar plant will begin construction in summer 2019 in Alcalá de Guadaira, Seville. The plant will be connected to the grid in 2020 to power 105,000 households. The 300MW solar project will be deployed in later in 2019 in the Extremadura region of Talayuela in Spain, for integration with the main grid in 2020 to meet the needs of more than 150,000 homes. Dr. Shawn […]

Africa’s Time to Embrace Solar Energy

Solar Energy in Africa “Even in the darkest place, the light of a single candle can be seen far and wide.” — The late Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson Africa has excellent solar energy potential, however two-thirds of Africa has no access to electricity. The lack electricity has put most of the continent at a severe disadvantage. For example the healthcare system is poor, people have limited opportunities to education, and development of the continent is hindered. Families in poverty will most likely stay in poverty. At the moment most African people have to rely on expensive, dirty and dangerous kerosene […]

Interesting Facts About Solar Energy

8 Interesting Facts About Solar Energy May Surprise You

1. Solar is now the least expensive as well as most plentiful energy resource worldwide In December 2016, the expense of structure as well as installing brand-new solar electrical energy generation dropped to $1.65 per watt, directly beating out its sustainable counterpart wind ($ 1.66/ Watt) as well as its nonrenewable fuel source rivals. 2. Over a million solar systems have been mounted in the UNITED STATE alone In very early 2016, the millionth solar system was set up in the UNITED STATE, notching a turning point that took 40 years for the photovoltaic or pv industry to get to. […]

SHOULD YOU USE SOLAR HOME BATTERY?

It’s in 2019. Can we live in a world that is entirely powered by solar? Not quite, but it is no longer a fancied world now. Recent research indicates that 74% of people shopping for home solar power are also interested in home energy storage. And while fewer than 20% of people who buy solar end up with a battery to go along with it, there are signs that might be changing soon. The way you save money with a home battery is by avoiding the high cost of on-peak electricity under a time-of-use (TOU) billing plan. On a TOU billing plan, […]

How Solar Panels Work?

How Solar Panels Work? Solar panels work by allowing photons (particles of light) from sunlight to knock electrons free from atoms. Silicon on its own cannot carry an electric current, that’s why silicon found in solar particles is impure and combined with phosphorous. When combined with phosphorus the electrons can be delocalised free to carry the electrical charge. This process of adding impurities is called doping. The result is what is known as N-type silicon and its what you find on the surface of solar panels. Below that layer of N-type silicon resides its mirror opposite: P-type silicon. P-type uses […]

How to choose solar lamp?

When we´re talking about choosing solar lamp, the quality is always the first factor that we will consider. Because the overall quality not only decide luminous effect, but also his service life. Before we select solar lamp, it’s necessary for us to be aware of those parts which constitute the whole: lamp (light source), pole, solar panel, controller and storage battery. The lamp is the light source of the entire streetlight. The quality of the light directly determines the lighting effect of the lighting. Nowadays, LED lamps are widely used as lamps for solar lanterns due to their durability, high […]

What advantages does double glass solar photovoltaic panels have?

SOLAR Photovoltaic Panels Double-sided modules are photovoltaic modules that can generate electricity on both sides. When the sun shines on double-sided modules, part of the direct solar radiation and scattered light reaches the ground and will be reflected the back of the module. This part of light can be absorbed by the battery to improve the photocurrent and power generation efficiency of the battery. Compared with traditional monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules, double-glass double-sided modules have the advantages of a long life cycle, low attenuation rate, weather resistance, better fire resistance, better heat dissipation, good insulation, easy cleaning and higher power […]

Wide Applications of Solar Street Lights

The development of solar street lights have changed our understanding and view of street lights. Traditional street lights are generally designed for pure lighting illumination, with no concern of the appearance of street lights, and requires cabling and trenching to install. Which is a greater consumption on both manpower and material resources? On the basis of retaining the main functions of traditional street lights, solar street lights can optimize the easy installation and appearance, saving on both installation cost and time, which makes the solar street light suitable for a variety of outdoor lighting applications. There are high requirements on […]
